India becomes fastest country in world to complete over 6 million vaccination

 The world’s biggest inoculation drive began in India on January 16 with two indigenously-manufactured Covid-19 vaccines – Covishield and Covaxin. Even with exporting to needy nations and neighbouring regions, India managed to registered more than 1 million vaccinations within the first six days of the mega drive, becoming the fastest country to do so.

Nearly 6 million (60,35,660) beneficiaries have received COVID-19 vaccine shots in merely 24 days, the Union Health Ministry said. Out of which 54,12,270 are health care workers and 6,23,390 are frontline workers (started on February 2,2021).

India became the fastest country in the world to reach the 6 million COVID-19 vaccination mark, achieving this feat in 24 days.

Addressing the media on the status on the status of the ongoing inoculation drive in the country, the ministry said that the United States achieved the 6 million-mark in 26 days while the UK achieved it in 46 days.

In a span of 24 hours, 2,23,298 people were vaccinated . Vaccination sessions organised in 35 States/UTs.

Eleven states and Union Territories -- Bihar, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Mizoram, Uttar Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Kerala -- have vaccinated more than 65 per cent of the registered healthcare workers.

Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, and Puducherry have reported less than 40 per cent coverage of vaccinating healthcare workers.

10 States account for 75.12% of the total beneficiaries vaccinated today.

Total hospitalizations till date is 29. Hospitalizations per cent  against vaccinations is 0.0005%.

Total deaths till date is 23( 0.0004% of vaccinations). Death in hospital is 9. Death outside hospital is 14.

Today is the 320th day since India implemented a nationwide lockdown to help curb the novel coronavirus pandemic. So far, India has recorded 1,08,14,304 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1,54,918 deaths. A total of 1,05,10,796 people have recuperated from COVID-19 so far. There are 1,48,590 active cases in the country as of date, which comprises 1.37 percent of the total caseload, the data stated. India's recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 97.16 percent.

Two farmer unions separated themselves from the ongoing farmer protests at Delhi borders

After unprecedented scenes of chaos and violence in Delhi during the tractor march by farmers on Republic Day, security was tightened around Red Fort, borders in Tikri and Singhu on January 27. Delhi Police Commissioner S N Shrivastava Wednesday said the farmer leaders were also involved in the violence that broke out during the tractor rally on Republic Day, adding that they will be questioned.
