Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at a Kirtan held in his residence on Sunday,announced that the history of Sikh gurus will now be included in the school curriculum in the state to educate students about the origins of the religion.
CM Yogi Adityanath organised "Gurbani kirtan" and "langar" at his official residence on Sunday to mark "Sahibzada Diwas",which marks the martyrdom of dour "sahibzadas" of Sikh guru Guru Gobind Singh and mata Gujri. Wearing saffron turbans,the chief minister,two deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma,Cabinet ministers and other officials participated in the "kirtan".Along with Sikh representatives,they also had "langar" food.
Speaking on the occassion,UP CM also recommended to Education Minister that 27th December which marks "Sahibzada Diwas" should be celebrated as the 'Real Childrens' Day in Colleges and Schools across the state.He added that "Sahibzada Diwas" should be celebrated in way that people can take inspiration from it and 'Sahibzada Diwas' can become the 'Real Childrens Day'.
He also said,"No society can move ahead if it forgets history.The Sikh society is known for its hard work.The Sikh guru sacrificed their lives to defend the Hindu religion.The country will always remember this."
He further added,"The history of Sikh gurus will be a part of the syllabus.Apart from this December 27 will be celebrated every year as 'Sahibzada Diwas' in all schools.Today is the day to pay tribute to the sons of the Guru and mother who martyred their lives for the motherland,country and religion."
The chief minister,his ministerial colleagues and seers from the Sikh community also accepted the "langar prasad" on the occasion,the UP government said in a statement.
