Extend Ban On UK Flights Till January 31: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Urges Centre

 Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday (January 7) requested the central government to extend the ban on UK flights till January 31 in view of the extremely serious COVID situation in that country.

"The Centre has decided to lift the ban and start UK flights. In view of the extremely serious situation in UK, I would urge central government to extend the ban till January 31", Kejriwal said on Twitter.

With great difficulty, people have brought COVID situation in control. UK's COVID situation is very serious. Now, why lift ban and expose our people to risk?  the Chief Minister said in another tweet.

The flights between India and UK were suspended from December 23 to January 7 in the wake of a more infectious COVID-19 strain in UK.

Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri had said on Saturday flights from India to UK will resume from January 6. The first flight from the UK will arrive in India on January 8. The Civil Aviation Ministry has revised the number of flights allowed to operate between India and the UK and brought down the number to 30, from 70 till January 23. A detailed instructions has also been issued by the Union health Ministry for passengers arriving in India from UK.

According to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the health ministry, all passengers coming from the UK between January 8 and January 30 would be subjected to self-paid COVID-19 tests on arrival.

Moreover, each passenger arriving from UK would have to bring his or her COVID-19 negative report from a test done 72 hours prior to the journey, it said.

A total of 73 persons have been detected with the new COVID-19 strain in India so far.

India becomes fastest country in world to complete over 6 million vaccination

 The world’s biggest inoculation drive began in India on January 16 with two indigenously-manufactured Covid-19 vaccines – Covishield and Covaxin. GST Collection At All-Time High Since Its Implementation,almost touches Rs.1.20 lakh crore in January 2021

 On the eve of Union Budget 2021, the GST revenue collected for the month of January 2021 has touched nearly Rs 1.20 lakh crore. The tax collection is higher than the December 2020 record, which witnessed an unexpected rise of 11.6 per cent. This is the highest GST revenue the government has collected since the rollout of the Goods and Services Tax regime.
