Indian Messaging App 'Hike' officially shuts down today

Indian Messaging App 'Hike Sticker Chat' is officially shutting down from today. Hike Sticker Chat was first messaging app that introduced calling and video calling feature, well before WhatsApp. A really innovative and cool app but company could never really stamp its authority in Indian Markets. Founder Kevin Bharti Mittal said India will never have their own messaging app as International competition is just too strong.

The company will instead focus on two of its apps, Vibe by hike, which was previously referred to as HikeLand and Rush by hike. Rush is the company's new gaming service that was announced earlier this month. Whereas, Vibe will be an approval-only community. This means that a user will have to apply first in order to join a Vibe community.

"All your data will be available to download in the app. Your HikeMoji will continue  to be available in both Vibe and Rush!" Mittal tweeted.

"Vibe by Hike" allows user to meet and interact with the funniest people online, safely. Many companies have tried building websites and apps around this concept but have failed to assure security. In the case of Vibe, Hike guarantees safety and says that creeps and fake profiles will not be tolerated. vibe by Hike is meant for open-minded people who are excited to be part of a community that treats people with kindness and respect.

According to Gadgets360 report, Hike Sticker Chat hasn't been as successful as the company has hoped for. Meanwhile, Mittal said that the app has 35 minutes per day usage on the app and while thanking the loyal fanbase Mittal added that it was a launchpad for HikeMoji and HikeLand products.

The shutdown comes at a time when many WhatsApp users are looking to switch away to another app in light of Facebook's revised privacy policy that users must accept before February 8.

With WhatsApp's new policy update, many users are feeling uncertain about the previously loved messaging app. Though Facebook-owned messaging giant, said its latest privacy update would not change how individuals interact privately but people are still considering moving on to different apps.

Giving further details, MapmyIndia CEO and Executive Director, Rohan Verma said that both the organisations would come with an India made mapping portal and geospatial services on Friday. He also stated that the collaboration will boost Aatmanirbhar Bharat, which will mean that users in India in future can rely on a country made solution and not a service designed outside India.
