"A very low intensity improvised device went off... No injury to any person was reported and nor was there any damage to property except the glass panes of three vehicles parked nearby," Delhi Police Additional PRO Anil Mittal said.
"Initial impressions suggest this was a mischievous attempt to create a sensation", he added.
The bomb disposal squad of the National Security Guard (NSG) are on standby. Some samples have already been collected from the blast spot. It is still not clear if any terror organisation or an individual was behind the attack.
"The improvised device was found in a flower pot on road divider near Jindal House, Delhi. It appears that it was thrown from a moving vehicle," ANI reported quoting sources.
The blast took place 1.4 kilometres away from Vijaya Chowk, where President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior members of the government had gathered, amid extremely heavy security, for the Beating Retreat ceremony that follows the Republic Day parade.
