The seventh round of talks between the protesting farm leaders and the Central government has begun at Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan.Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar,Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and MoS Commerce and Industry Som Prakash are representing the government,while 41 Kisan union leaders are representing the protesting farmers.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said on Monday that he is hopeful that the two parties(government and farmer union) will find a positive solution on the farm laws issue."I am hopeful that we will find a positive solution today.We will discuss all issues in the meeting",he said. "Baithak mein sabhi vishyon par charcha hogi (We will discuss every issue in the meeting)", the minister said.
According to the sources, the 'clause by clause' discussion on three farm laws is expected to take place between government and farmers if farmers remain obdurate on their demand to repeal the laws.
This is the first meeting this year between farmers and government.In the last round of meetings, the two sides agreed on two of the four demands of the farmers- withdrawal of the Electricity Amendment Bill and the penal provision for stubble burning in the Air Quality Commission Ordinance.
So far,six rounds of talks have been held between the central government and the farmers unions.However, the talks failed to end the deadlock as the farmers continue to demand the repeal of the three farm laws passed by Parliament in September.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today expressed his solidarity with the protesting farmers and appealed to the Narendra Modi government to agree to the farmer's demand to repeal the farm laws in the latest round of farmer-Centre talks.
Farmers have been protesting on different borders of the national capital since November 26 against the three newly enacted farm laws-Farmer's Produce trade and Commerce(Promotion and Facilitation) Act,2020,the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance, and Farm Services Act,2020. and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act,2020.
