The tenth round of meeting held on Wednesday between representatives of protesting farmers and the Central government also failed to resolve the deadlock against the three farm laws. The next meeting will be held on January 22.

He further said that,” We asked govt to withdraw the fake cases registered by NIA against farmers. In response, govt said they are looking into the matter & asked us to provide the names of leaders against whom new cases, if any, have been registered”.
“They (government) also said that a committee would be formed on MSP & the laws & they would implement the recommendations of the committee. We'll hold a meeting tomorrow & take a decision on the proposal”, Hannan Mollah added.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said,"during discussions, we said that govt is ready to put on hold the farm laws for one or one and half year. I'm happy that farmer unions have taken this very seriously & said that they would consider it tomorrow & convey their decision on Jan 22".
He further said that,” I feel that talks are progressing in the right direction and there is a possibility of finding a resolution on Jan 22”.

Meanwhile, earlier today the Supreme Court asked the Centre to withdraw its plea against proposed tractor rally by farmers on Republic Day. The court says that it will not pass any order on plea against proposed tractor rally or any other kind of protest by farmers on Republic Day. During the hearing, the CJI said, “We have said that it is for the Police to decide. We are not going to pass the orders. You are the authority to take action”.
