The Scientist Who Discovered Ebola Virus Says That 'Disease X' Could Be The Next Pandemic!

2021 is here, but seems our troubles haven't gone anywhere! At a time when world is still grappling with a health crisis, the threat of another disease deadlier than Covid-19 seems to be looming large.

Professor Jean-Jacques Muyembe Tamfum, the scientist who discovered Ebola over four decades ago, has warned that a host of new and potentially fatal viruses emerging from Africa's tropical rainforests may be affecting humanity in the years to come.

According to the latest reports, the world could be hit by another deadly virus termed 'Disease X'. The disease is likely to be as fast-spreading as the Covid-19, and as deadly as the Ebola virus.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, in Ingende, Democratic Republic of the Congo, a patient was showing early symptoms of hemorrhagic fever. She was tested for multiple diseases, including Ebola, but they all tested negative, sparking fears that her illness might have been caused by 'Disease X', which stands for unexpected.

"We are now in a world where new pathogens will come out. And that's what constitute a threat for humanity",  Professor Jean-Jacques Muyembe Tamfum said while speaking to CNN. When asked if any new disease could be more apocalyptic than Covid-19, he said, "Yes , yes, I think so".

The World Health Organization has said that Disease X is still hypothetical but could spiral into a deadly pandemic.

According to various reports, Disease X could spread as fast as Covid-19 but has Ebola's 50 to 90 per cent fatality rate.
