India Reports 20 More Fresh Cases Of New Strain Of Coronavirus, Total 58 Cases have Been Detected So Far

 The total number of cases infected with the new strain of the novel Coronavirus that was first reported in the United Kingdom now stands at 58, the Union Health & Family Welfare Ministry said on Tuesday.



"All these persons have been kept in single-room isolation in designated healthcare facilities by the respective state governments. Their close contacts have also been put in quarantine.Comprehensive contact tracing has been initiated for co-travellers, family contacts and others. Genome sequencing on other specimen is going on", the Health Ministry said.

Till yesterday, a total of 38 people were found infected with the new strain of the virus. Among them, 11 people have tested positive with the new strain at CSIR's Institute Of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), and eight samples tested at NCDC,both in Delhi.

The samples of new strain of Covid-19 are being tested at 10 INSACOG labs(NIBMG Kolkata,ILS Bhubaneswar ,NIV Pune, NCCS Pune, CCMB Hyderabad, CDFD Hyderabad, InSTEM Bengaluru, NIMHANS Bengaluru, IGIB Delhi and NCDC Delhi) for genome sequencing.

The presence of the new UK variant has already been reported by  Denmark, Netherlands, Australia, Italy, Sweden, France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Canada, Japan, Lebanon and Singapore.

The Ministry said that it is monitoring the situation closely and giving regular advice to the states for enhanced surveillance,containment,testing and dispatch of samples to labs.

Flights from India to UK and vice-versa was banned by the government earlier can commence from January 6, while operations from the UK to India will begin on January 8. The Ministry has also issued a set of guidelines for passengers from the UK. All passengers will have to submit a self-declaration form on the online portal of Delhi Airport (www.newdelhiairport.in) and need to carry negative report of the RT-PCR test conducted within 72 hours prior to undertaking the journey.

Today is the 287th day since Inidia implemented a nationwide lockdown to help curb the novel coronavirus pandemic. India reported 16,375 new Covid-19 cases and 29,091 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the Union Ministry Of Health and Family Welfare(MoHFW) informed on Tuesday.With this, the total number of coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 1,03,56,845, including 2,31,036 active cases and 99,75,958 recoveries. As many as 201 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours,taking the death toll in the country to 1,49,850.

UK has reported another 58,784 new coronavirus cases, which is the highest daily spike in the nation since the beginning of the pandemic. UK has imposed a nationwide lockdown amid the massive spike in coronavirus cases.

This is the seventh day in a row that daily new cases have crossed 50,000 in Britain.The total number of coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 2,713,563.

GST Collection At All-Time High Since Its Implementation,almost touches Rs.1.20 lakh crore in January 2021

 On the eve of Union Budget 2021, the GST revenue collected for the month of January 2021 has touched nearly Rs 1.20 lakh crore. The tax collection is higher than the December 2020 record, which witnessed an unexpected rise of 11.6 per cent.  The Union Ministry Of Health and Family Welfare announced on Saturday that a total of 116 persons have been detected positive with the new strain of Covid-19.
